Profile yourself... by Michel-Lag-Chavarria Profile yourself... by Michel-Lag-Chavarria
Profile yourself as you really wish to be,
Looking straight and proud towards your future,
But with a smile because you cannot consider life seriously:
Life is a game, a wonderful and terrible game, so just play you own part…

.°.

The great Zaza on stage, from Los Excentricos, fantastic Spanish clowns …
Le Grand Café Mounis, Graissessac, Southern France.

Canon EOS 400D + Canon Zoom 17-85mm, ISO 1600, no flash.

Wonderfull, Michel - simply a womderfull portrait!

Where shall I start - let´s begin with the framing.
When I look at this shot I actually see six frames, which is - I tell you right away - too much, taking a lot of impact the shot actually has.
You may ask yourself - six? Yes six! Going form the outer to the inner part I see one thin white, one very thin black, one bold white, one thin grey, one thin white and finally the black area framing your model. This kind of framing does not match to the character of the shot, as it distracts the spectator´s attention needlessly. I would suggest to reupload it blank without any white or grey framing.

But now to the shot itslef - you´ve chosen a very ambient light which coaxs your model without changing his character - as far as I can say. The person fades perfectly into the black background without loosing its outlines.

But the main part of this impressive shot certainly is the clown´s face and his expression you made to capture so well.
With this "simple" shot you manage it to describe his experience of life and the conclusions he drew making them. Your describtion was nice but not necessary - this shot speaks volumes!

Wonderful photo Michael. I wish I could agree wholeheartedly on the life´s a game words, but I tend more to agree with a wise man ( forgot who it was ) who said " Bad things happen, when good man do nothing " and then, it´s not a game.
